The exceptionally rare complete suite of 100 impressions, 15 signed by the artist, from the regular edition of 260, on specially made Montval laid paper with Picasso and Vollard watermarks, the full sheets, in original condition.
Fifteen of the subjects in this set are signed in pencil by Picasso (the last three in red pencil): Bloch 143, 176, 177, 178, 185, 191, 192, 201, 219, 225, 226, 230, 231, 232, 233.
The Vollard Suite, apart from the edition of three on parchment, was published unsigned, but Henri Petiet, who had bought the entire Vollard estate, was in the practice of taking individual groups of Vollard Suite prints to Picasso to sign; this happened over a period of years. Naturally enough, Petiet chose to ask the artist to sign the most important subjects , and complete Vollard Suites normally contain 15 subjects that have been signed. Our set is in exactly this format, with the most important fifteen subjects signed, the others left unsigned as originally published.
